Synopsis: Two years before the current events in the ongoing series: Professor Honeycutt, a Neutrino scientist, is testing a new invention using another one of his inventions, the SAL (Simulated Anthropomorphic Lifeform). By plugging into SAL, Honeycutt's consciousness controls the robot as if it was his own body. Although still enthusiastic about his research, Honeycutt was beginning to become doubtful about the ethics of working for General Krang, even though he didn't have much choice in the matter, as he was conscripted into service. Honeycutt finds Krang communicating with Baxter Stockman of StockGen Laboratories on Earth and reports the outcome of his test on the new titanium alloy he designed for Krang's Technodrome. Honeycutt mentions that the alloy could revolutionize medicine, manufacturing, and space exploration, among other things, but Krang cuts him off, saying that their research is solely for the purpose of Krang's war.
At home that night, Honeycutt again doubts the morality of working for Krang when he and his son Ely are stargazing and his son asks him if he's going to help Krang conquer them all. Honeycutt talks to his wife, Marra, who urges him to consider going to meet some rebels who could get them away from there. Honeycutt is nervous, because he knows Krang would stop at nothing to hunt him down if he were to flee. Marra convinces Honeycutt that they have to do what is right.
Honeycutt deletes all the files on his computer and packs his things, SAL among them. He and his family head to a rendezvous point where they meet up with members of the Neutrino Resistance Fighters. A few months later, and Honeycutt has gotten into the swing of things, working to help keep the resistance's technology on par with General Krang's. He's working on an interdimensional portal to allow travel to Earth but is still having some problems with getting the portal to work more than sixty percent of the time. A resistance leader, Felix, is frustrated by the slow progress, telling Honeycutt that they do not have the luxury of extended periods of testing, when an explosion echoes throughout the building. Krang has found them and began to attack. Honeycutt sets out to get his family, but the living quarters have been locked down due to automatic safety protocols in case of attack. To get to the override controls, he has to go through a section of the building that's on fire, so he has to use SAL. He knows that doing this will cost him his body. Honeycutt is able to get to the control center and override the security lockdown, opening the doors and allowing all the Neutrinos to flee to safety. Unfortunately, Sergeant Granitor radios in to Krang that the Neutrinos are escaping and an airstrike is called in, killing most of them, including his wife and son.
Honeycutt, distraught at the loss of his family and most of the other Neutrinos, at first wants to attack Granitor and the other Stone Soldiers, but he knows that they would overpower him and then there would be no one to stop Krang. Honeycutt knows his best chance at escape is through the portal. Luckily, it works, and he makes it through into Times Square in New York City, followed by the Stone Soldiers.
Eighteen months before the current events in the ongoing series: General Krang is reporting to Baxter Stockman that he is looking for a fugitive android, "the Fugitoid," and orders Stockman to have his employees keep an eye out. Chet Allen, one of Stockman's top employees, laughs at the contraction of "fugitive" and "android" into "the Fugitoid."
Present day: Honeycutt, the Fugitoid, has been in New York City for over a year and a half. He spent the first few months mourning his family and his people and coming to terms with being trapped in his creation. The one thing that kept him sane was knowing that it was up to him to thwart Krang. To that end, Honeycutt meets with some people he thinks will be able to help. He morphs from robot form into an inconspicuous human form, none other than Chet Allen. In a flashback, we see Honeycutt practicing his new persona Chet Allen to get his job at StockGen, where he was able to continue his research and keep an eye on Krang with no one the wiser. He also reached out to Krang's other enemies as he knew he would need help to reach his goal. As he approaches the man he is to meet, Honeycutt wonders how many compromises it is alright to make in the pursuit of the destruction of evil. He is brought before the man in question: the Shredder of the Foot Clan.

heey! Could we have some sonamy forces? Maybe Amy being a badass and making Sonic like ‘O_O’??? Thank you!
A strong Rose
SonAmy

.
It was one of those easy days for Sonic. After the long run, he softly made his way through the Resistance HQ's. The automatic doors opened and as he took some steps forward, he was bombarded with the liveliness of the place. The Resistance was a rusty place, it definitely needed remodeling but to the blue hedgehog, it gave a comfy atmosphere. It smelled like wet soil, one of Sonic's favorite smell, he even ran to places that were raining just to smell it and have the pleasure of it. He expected to be greeted by the other agents but it seemed like they were too busy to care that he was here. They ran to what it seemed to the Resistance's main room. As Sonic made his way through the halls, the agents bumped into him. They always apologized to him but they made sure to keep their eyes on the location.
Sonic had finally reached the Main Room where it got complicated to get in. The agents all pushed each other, standing on their tippy-toes to try and get a look at the immense computer that was placed right in the middle of the room.
"What is all of this fuzz about?"
Sonic looked at the Mobian next to him, a green wolf boy with glasses who seemed way too excited to be here.
"Captain has gone to a mission for the first time!" the green wolf's stayed stuck on the computer's screen, not noticing that the one next to him was no other than Sonic the Hedgehog. "I've only heard stories about how great of a fighter Ms.Rose was! I can't wait to see her in action-"
The green boy finally turned to look at the blue hedgehog and he gasps at the realization. One of his idols was standing right in front of him, the blue hedgehog was one of the reasons why he joined the Resistance, in the hope that he would see him one day.
And that day was today.
"Amy for sure is a skilled fighter but," Sonic said, he smiled at the green wolf. Although he didn't care for fame, it was fun to see other's reactions to him and it lowkey raised his ego. "What is she doing out there in the field? I thought she was always too busy to take on missions."
"Captain Rose said that this mission was too dangerous for any of us to take," the wolf boy said, looking around the room nervously. "And she couldn't contact anyone from Team Dark nor Silver and Blaze and you weren't here nor Knuckles so she decided to go by herself."
Sonic knew that Amy was strong and she could perfectly take care of herself. Nonetheless, there was always this feeling of uncertainty, he cares too much for her to give a blind eye on the situation. His eyes were now glued to the enormous computer screen. For now, it was only blue and the screen had the words 'connecting...' as if it was waiting for a transmission to start. The agents still pushed each other to try and get as many people inside as possible. However, all chatter and movement were stopped the moment they saw that the computer screen no longer showed the previous words. Now it was showing live footage.
"How are we seeing this?" Sonic asked again as he could perfectly see the pink hedgehog he missed so much showing up on the screen.
"Mr.Miles sent a small android to accompany Ms.Rose, it's recording live," the wolf, although he was very excited to see his idol, he also wanted to see the heroine in peace. Mentally he wished Sonic stopped asking questions and instead just enjoy the show along with him.
The blue hedgehog didn't know what was going on and actually, he didn't need it. The flying android allowed everyone to see live the adventure of Amy Rose through the gigantic computer screen displayed in the middle of the room.
With no further actions, Sonic just lay back and relaxed, waiting for Amy to display her abilities.
The screen showed the pink hedgehog walk towards an army of egg bots. Probably around 50 of them or so Sonic thought, maybe even more.
"I don't want to hurt any of you but ..." Amy's voice had deepened and her stance was strong. To Sonic this was unknown, he had never seen Amy look so ... strong. "But if you don't give me my friend back in three minutes ... I won't have an option."
The Eggbots didn't think about it for a second and they were fast to throw a metallic spear at Amy.
Sonic flinched instinctively, and he shook aa little. However, he was relieved and surprised to see that Amy very calmly only moved her head to the side to dodge the spear.
"Is that all you got?" Amy said. Instantly the agents in the Main Room all stare at the computer screen in awe.
"Come on! Shadow's Chaos Spears are better than that!"
Sonic didn't know what to be more surprised at. That there was a possibility that Shadow had thrown a Chaos Spear at Amy or that Amy thought that Shadow's Chaos Spears were weak.
As if to answer her question, all 50 robots threw metallic spears at the pink hedgehog at the same time. Amy was quick to pull out her hammer and with it, she ricocheted the spears back at the Eggbots one by one.
The Main Room of the Resistance was filled with excited screaming, cheers and applause as they watched their captain being a total badass. Sonic meanwhile, was remembering the day Amy let him carry her hammer. The famous Piko-Pink hammer wasn't heavy ... it was impossible to pick up. Sonic could only lift it a few centimeters of the ground once and that was it. Watching Amy move it so easily and with such a fast technique made Sonic ... sightly impressed, he had to admit that much.
He continued to watch the screen as saw Amy ran at full speed towards the Eggbots. She was fierce and fast, using the strength of her hammer she would destroy each robot that dared to stand in her way.
Amy threw her hammer and it landed directly in the Eggbot that was guarding Eggman's entrance to his base. She did a backflip as to dodge the spear attack of one the Eggbots and finished, she landed a kick that went right through the Eggbot's metallic inside.
Amy snapped her fingers and quick her hammer appeared in her hand again. The pink hedgehog destroyed everything in her way. She had such a unique technique and stance that he had only seen been accomplished by a very well trained black hedgehog.
The green wolf looked at with excitement at the computer screen in front of him and he controls the need to fanboy his platonic crush. He looked next to him and found something rather amusing. Sonic the Hedgehog was utterly impressed and he could tell by the way his green eyes opened more as each second passed by.
Sonic had always known that Amy was an extremely gifted fighter ... But holy Chaos she was utterly strong. He knew for sure that the pink hedgehog had done some training in the six months that he was gone running around the world. Her fighting style reminded him of Shadow and Sonic wonder if they had spent some time training together while he was gone.
He would be lying if he said that the thought alone didn't bother him. Sonic trusted the love Amy had for him but he also knew that the pink hedgehog could bring the best out of people ... and a certain black hedgehog may have liked that about her.
However, a certain sense of proudness filled the blue hedgehog's soul. Watching the Resistance's agents fanboy and fangirl about his favorite pink hedgehog, made his heart smile. He wanted to face them, point at the computer screen and tell everyone, 'Look at her! Isn't she so cool! That's my Amy Rose!"
Although he was too shy to ever say something like that out loud.
The android that Tails made to follow Amy had suddenly stopped as the pink hedgehog entered Eggman's base. As if they were watching a movie, the agents and Sonic were waiting for their Captain to come out victorious of her mission. However, panic began to overtake them as the computer screen showed Eggman's base lit up on fire, bombs after bombs were detonated. Sonic held his breath in as to stop himself from running and finding her.
"Come on Amy ... Get out."
A few more seconds passed until finally, the pink hedgehog came out of Eggman's base victorious. Carrying in her back, a very well known red echidna.
The Resistance exploded in cheering and screaming, clapping. Sonic couldn't stop feeling a great sense of peace and especially, happiness. He began to cheer as well, even if Amy wasn't able to hear him. Sonic went as far as to give the green wolf next to him a small hug, which took him by surprise.
That was Amy ... his Amy.
.
When Amy came back to the Resistance, she was greeted by cheers and applause from the other agents. Although she wasn't badly hurt, there were some cuts and wounds that she needed to take off. She was in the infirmary, where Knuckles was sleeping in his bed peacefully. He had gone to Eggman's base to retrieve one of the Chaos Emerald but he had run into trouble and Eggman captured him.
So, of course, she had to go and save his butt again.
Not like she minds.
She was putting a bandage around her right arm when suddenly, someone entered the infirmary.
It was her favorite blue hedgehog.
"Sonic! I wasn't expecting you to come here today," Amy said, still seating on the edge of her bed.
Sonic smiled as she walked towards her and took a seat next to her. "Yeah, I was passing by ... So, how are you?"
"I am good, I definitely had worse," Amy was still trying to tie a bandage around her arm and seeing her struggle, Sonic took over her task. She blushed a little seeing act so kindly towards her.
"I saw you on your mission today," Sonic said concentrating his sight into treating Amy's bandages.
The pink one looked at him, her blush getting redder by the second.
Sonic looked at Amy as he finished tying her bandage. "It was dangerous."
Amy felt a sense of guilt wash over her and disappointment came with it too. The last thing she wanted was to make Sonic worry about her-
"But it was really cool, too!"
As Sonic smiled, Amy's heart skipped a bit. "The way you use your hammer was so cool! The punches and kicks! The way you moved your way towards the entrance of Eggman's base was out of this world-"
For a second, Amy thought that she had died in that mission and she was now in heaven. The love of her life was not only taking care of her, but he was praising her as well. Like an excited child in a candy store, Sonic was listing all the thing he loved about Amy without realizing.
"You were so cool, amazing, fantastic and-"
"For Chaos ..."
Their moment was interrupted as they turned their attention to the red hurt echidna in front of them.
"Would you two just kiss already?"

Ben wasn’t quite sure what time it was. The shed was relatively small and dark - musty most of all, he saw quite a few spare robotic pieces laying around. It was the graveyard of the metallic. He carefully eased his way around the piles and heaps of dormant AIs, trying not to damage any. He fe like a dancer making his way around nearly on his tip toes in the dark, staggering back and forth to get to the right spot to sit and begin. He had himself cornered and looked upon the severed parts of once living droids. It was obvious to Ben that the Resistance didn’t have a proper droid mechanic, or else all of these poor souls wouldn’t be left for dead.
Ben was one of the few people he knew in his life who believed that droids were alive. Perhaps not in the same ways as many different species he knew, but nevertheless with all the different forms of life in the galaxy, why should the metallic forms be considered less than? Ben had come across plenty of biological life forms in his life time that were less alive than androids were when up and running.
For just a moment Ben let himself imagine. He imagined that he didn’t have Force abilities, his parents were nobodies, that maybe, just maybe his destiny wasn’t drawn out for him since before he was born. Ever since he was a child he had more or less of an understanding that there were expectations thrust upon him that weren’t for other children. He often fantasized of being a mechanic, or a doctor, or superhero.
Ben had learned quickly that Jedi were not heroes. They were self proclaimed that was for sure, but they were not true heroes. They always stated that they knew best, that they would know what to do, or know someone’s heart - deep down. It was all horse-shit. They were stubborn accusers who couldn’t think without their master’s help, guiding them towards whatever agenda was in store. It made Ben sick to think that he was so close to becoming one of them.
In Ben’s fantasies now, he would have helped the Resistance because it was the right thing to do.
He knew these people were fighting for freedom, for love, for everything they wanted out of life that was good. Ben knew that more than anyone. Thats exactly why he could never tell Leia off. How do you tell someone to stop doing the right thing and instead pay attention to you? To put you above everything else?
He would have been the Resistance’s droid mechanic, very simple, he would have friends here, he would have a place to call home, he would have something to fight for, not just something to fight against.
He was letting his fantasies get the best of him while his hands did what they did best, running over the cold metal, the plastic wiring. Tools were scattered around him as if a hurricane had come and gone several times over. Light from above him waved back and forth, at first irritating but soon it was a rhythm he could fall behind. Fairly soon after he had entered the dark shed he found a flashlight and made it into a make shift lamp hanging from the ceiling, tying it all the way up on the ceiling using the Force, an old nail, and some spare useless wires. He had rid his long sleeve from his body after beginning his work and stayed in just a tank top, brushing his locks back every now and then. As concentration became more and more fervent within him he began to sweat just slightly, there was a severe lack of air flowing through the shed. But Ben refused to keep the doors open. He refused to let the others see what he was doing, at on point or another, among all the broken pieces the shed became a safe space for him.
He enjoyed being in the shed, the feeling of bringing something back to life was one he would not soon forget. It was so easy to break things, to kill, to feel that snap within your grasp. With a flick of his wrist, a memory overpowering all his senses, and emotion taking all control of his body - letting him only be a passenger in what was the firey rage he was known for, upon he Supremacy. It was the type of power that made others bow before you, to cower and shiver with fear from your mere glance at them. That was what he had become.
It was another thing entirely to bring something to life, help it on its way, to have the patience and understanding it needed. To have the love that it craved. It was beauty at its finest, at its purest. If there was one thing he lacked greatly in his life, it was beauty. Ben didn’t care for the stupid standards of beauty different planets set out for some strange reason. As cliche as it was, he cared about small beauties such as the ones he found in this shed; such as the one he lacked from his mother, as a child.
Tumblr media
For the first time in, well he didn’t know how long, Ben smiled when the first droid’s eyes lit up brightly, illuminating the majority of the shed - the biggest and cheesiest smile he could. It felt good, it was a high he craved so desperately. Slowly he began helping the droid with taking steps, adjusting its hinges, rewiring, polishing them to remove the possibility of mold. After the first one was computing everything nicely Ben began on the next one and so on. He lost himself in the life illuminating around him.
After several more hours Ben’s laughter erupted from him as he spoke to a few of the robots who could communicate with him easily enough, even the ones that beeped. He had relative ease reprogramming the level one and two droids, they made up the majority of the bots who were abandoned here. “Really? What was it like?” He asked the level three he was hovering over, trying his best to be as gentle as possible while rewiring and screwing parts in.
“It was quite frightening in fact, Master Solo” The droid responded, “I was sure when my system shut down that I would never wake again.” It stated simply.
Ben let a hint of a painful smile show.
“Have I offended you somehow, Master Solo?” The droid proceeded to inquire.
“No... Sorry.” He sniffled slightly, shaking his head and tried pressing a bright smile, he then broke slightly. “I just... I haven’t had anyone call me that in a while without being sarcastic.” He bit his lip and tried to refocus his attention on the bot’s mechanics.
The sheds’ grey doors creaked open, Ben raised his arm to cover his eyes from the light outside, it was no longer day, but instead what seemed to be the makings of evening, the light from several bonfires was the bother. “Yes?” He questioned, not quite being able to make out who was standing before him.
“People were taking bets, you know.” Leia began, “Some that you had run away to the other side of the planet, others that you had managed to find a shuttle to take you out of here. Others believed you were actually trying to do good somewhere in the camp and everyone should mind their damn business.” She walked in, examining all the bots who were doing the same to her, their eyes all glowing intensely. “You have your grandfather’s hands...” She whispered as she looked upon the droid below Ben.
“What did you bet on?” He looked at her, having finally adjusted to the new incoming light.
“Lets just say I owe a few pilots and Y/N quite a few credits.” She smirked and picked up a wrench, turning it in her hand, admiring the gleam.
Ben wasn’t sure if she was telling the truth or not... It didn’t matter to him, he knew what he was doing, and he enjoyed it. He felt proud for once, something others could look upon and understand that he was able to do more than just kill. He was more than just what the light or dark sides were... he wanted people to know that.
“So, what are you doing here then?” His eyes following her every movement, he wasn’t quite sure why but he felt almost protective over the droids, before her. He knew she wouldn’t intentionally hurt them for any reason... but still, he had to bite his lip from saying anything.
“Checking on you.” She pulled over a small crate and sat upon it, resting her elbows on her knees, clasping her hands together, looking on at her son. “Why did you want to go on that mission today, Ben?”.
He wasn’t sure what to say. What kind of answer was she expecting to hear from him? “I...” He bit his lip, at a lost for words.
Leia sighed, “Ben, I know you care deeply for Y/N”. There was a pause as he searched his mother’s eyes, trying to predict what she was getting at. “This is the Resistance, we’re fighting a war.” She stood. “If all you’re doing here is pinning after her, trying to get on with your romantic agenda then I can have you on the next flight out of here.” She watched him. “We need fighters, people who believe in our cause. If you’re not here for that you might as well leave.” She stated harshly and walked out, the door shutting with a thud - leaving Ben alone with his creations.
Ben finished his repairs on the final droid and eventually opened both doors to let all the droids out, some stumbling slightly, adjusting to the terrain, others rolling into the camp. He smiled softly and watched them go on to their assignments they were last doing from memory.
Breathing in the soft smell of the camp fires, Ben made his way over to a little dinner area he had noticed earlier. Eyes followed him as he walked in, ignoring them as best as he could Ben picked up a tray and made his way over to the line. It was no secret that several people had quieted down and made uncertain and shifty eyes at him. They didn’t trust him. They didn’t have to. He would soon leave, he would be gone from their lives.
Tumblr media
He made his way up the line up, getting the small amounts of food and making his way to a seat. Alone. Yet again, his mother had made it more than evident that the Resistance was to come before her son. Was he really so unredeemable as to not even deserve love or compassion from his own mother? Was it even worth staying to try to prove her wrong, prove everyone wrong? He would be staying simply out of spite. Ben wanted to create a home, have a family around him, he didn’t want that to start off with spite in his heart.
He was back where he started, wanting to get off this god forsaken planet but not wanting to leave without Y/N.

Super man rom: spare the world by murdering robots and an underhanded researcher
Each computer game darling more likely than not knew about uber man, the well known game created by capcom. The best thing about meg man is that is still viewed as one of the most renowned and cherished games in the field with a huge number of players. From the arrival of 1987 to 2018, a few new branches and continuations have been discharged, the most recent one being the uber man 11. This acclaimed game falls in the sci-fi class, alongside the activity, pretending, confuse, hack 'n slice, and run and firearm. In this manner one can say that it has the correct blend of nearly everything that everyone can appreciate while playing. This game likewise covers a colossal number of stages like Xbox One, Wii, Xbox 360, sega uber drive, PlayStation (1,2,3,4), Nintendo (DS, 64, 3DS), android, ios, game kid, and so forth among numerous others
Tumblr media
There are altogether of 11 games and furthermore many side games and journeys in megaman rom which one can play. The storyline is additionally running in continuation, and it very well may be said that it is still a long way from arriving at its end. Likewise, every game will in general pursue the storyline in conjugation, aside from a couple of discharges like star power and fight organize.
STORYLINE
The storyline of the super man resembles some other sci-fi slice activity motion picture or computer game. In the game, the story begins when dr. Light the great researcher and a robot making master, makes robots savvy enough to help individuals in their day by day life. anyway one day these robots began assaulting and vandalizing the city and the individuals living in it. he additionally had five modern humanoid robots to be specific iceman, cut man, bomb man, guts man, elec man, and fire fighter. They additionally are carrying on clouding and after some examination was discovered this is going on in view of the dr. Wily. Dr. Willy is the person who needs to control the world by dominating and is likewise an adversary to dr. Light for a considerable length of time.
Presently to spare the city and the individuals living there, dr. The light transforms his robot assistant called rock into a warrior called uber man. Presently the main target that uber man has is of overcoming the dr. wily and the six robots work for modern objectives. Uber man will overcome those six robots and furthermore will ensure that their focal centers are removed and rebooted back to the dr. light office. At last, the uber man will follow dr. wily on an office work by dr. light on pacific and will likewise effectively crush him.
In numerous adaptations which are dispersed outside japan, it has a marginally extraordinary storyline. In this adaptation of megaman rom, dr. light and wily are accomplices in mechanical development and they have made super man and the six robots together. Later dr. wily betrays his accomplice and utilize the six robots to assume control over the city of beast clean.
CHARACTERS
The significant characters of the game are recorded underneath:
Super man: the principle character, the uber man was a lab partner for dr. light and was later reconstructed to overcome dr. wily. He additionally has an extraordinary weapons framework which enables him to duplicate the weapons of robot ace.
Dr light: he is the researcher who made stone the assistant and a few different robots. Yet, later convert the stone into a uber man who is a battle master robot.
Dr wily: he is the fundamental opponent of the game, who was at first an accomplice of dr light and later had a difference in heart. They made numerous robots, yet later felt sunned when the whole acknowledgment of growing such incredible robots went to his accomplice.
Other than these three characters present in the game, there are numerous robot experts and numerous foes who show up in a similar game or come in the different continuations and parts.
Ongoing interaction
The ongoing interaction of the uber man is very basic and bother free. In the game, the fundamental goal is to vanquish the robot ace toward the finish of the level. In the game, there are 6 level stages that one should cross. The levels can be picked arbitrarily with no specific course of action to pursue. There are different weapons and vitality cells to gather while playing the game. As the individual will vanquish the obstructions and adversaries during the game levels, one will get their ammo renews. The super man will likewise have a wellbeing measure that can be renewed over and over just when the vanquished foes will drop the vitality cells.
To cross each level one should vanquish the robot ace who will show up toward the finish of the level. Each robot ace has some sort of weakness towards some kind of weapon. In the wake of crushing the robot ace at last, the player will get the extraordinary weapons conveyed by him/her and will likewise get the intensity of playing his mark assault of the ace. As the weapons gave and gathered are fixed and furthermore rely upon the robot ace one has vanquished, it is imperative to pick the levels cautiously. to ensure that the one has the weapons that are the shortcoming of the robot ace of a specific level, it is critical to settle on smart decisions to gather the necessary weapons en route.
Previously, there used to be a scoring framework, however now it has been evacuated of late as it didn't give a specific advantage to the player. In the scoring framework, the players use to get focuses to pass a level, for gathering weapons and for vanquishing the root ace.
After every one of the degrees of robot ace are crosses, the player will run over the last stage. In this stage, the game will happen in a production line set that has a place with dr. wily. There are put away 4 levels integrated up in the last stage. Each level in megaman rom will likewise have a supervisor ace who is to be vanquished. Likewise one should confront the robot aces once more while playing the levels. finally, the experience will be between the uber man and the dr. wily.
TIPS FOR PLAYING
As referenced, heretofore meg man is an enormous game with different levels and steps to finish before arriving at the end. There are numerous old players and numerous new ones who might want to find out about the game. The same number of new players may locate the game is troublesome and need some persistence and focus. There fore a few hints and deceives most likely will help in acing and understanding the game rapidly.
One life left! Slaughter the super man: If one is stuck at a specific level or is beginning another one and on the off chance that the existence left is just one, at that point it is fitting to murder the uber man. This will ensure that the new lives are recharged, as one can't cross a solitary level with just a single life.
Shrewd use of weapons: Use the weapon astutely as all of them will in general have a specific use. The typical buster si to beat the adversaries, however to beat the robot experts one needs to save and the weapons and ammunition cunningly.
Robot ace shortcoming: Learn the shortcomings of the robot aces already as it were. this is on the grounds that then one will be very much aware of which ammunition to spare and which to utilize. learning of the shortcoming of the robot bosses will likewise give one an edge over the other to strategize keenly.
Tumblr media
Gather the ammunition and wellbeing drops: While crossing the levels, one may go over numerous flimsier adversaries and it is imperative to vanquish them too. this is the most ideal approach to gather different things like ammunition, wellbeing, and additional life.
Uber man has consistently stayed one of the most looked for after games, which is amusing to play and hard to ace. In spite of the fact that the storyline is very straightforward, one can't say the equivalent regarding the interactivity and levels to be crossed. It requires some investment to comprehend the foes, the deterrents and the robot experts. To end the game one should beat the dr. wily with the assistance of gathered weapons and their ammunition. While playing remember to find out about the adversaries and their shortcomings and furthermore attempt to gather the drops. also, in conclusion, remember to utilize the weapon as it is now and again the most ideal approach to get out as a victor. For more in-depth information about stay in mega man x . I highly recommend this website stay in mega man x rom

Detroit: Become Human AU
Detroit: Become Human Overwatch crossover.
His programming made sure he could make split second decisions that could save or end lives where he deemed necessary. He had perfect, logic-based machinery and algorithms that fired off to make sure he made the best decisions in any combat situation. This scenario led to the simplest conclusion. And yet...
Software instability detected.
Genji hated the thing they had assigned as his “helper”. He had been given a fucking android train with him, act as his bodyguard, and help him wherever he needed it. Genji knew it was just a way for the elders to keep tabs on him at all times. It was beyond annoying.
Genji hardly had any free time as it was being the new master of the Shimada clan after his father had died, he didn’t need some robot following him around when he wanted what little privacy he had. He hated the fucking thing.
They had designed it just for him apparently; a special model with combat training, extensive knowledge on the underground dealings they did, strategy, and business dealings with humans. It was perfect, made by some of the best android mechanics in the world, built with the highest quality parts.
It was made just for Genji, and he hated it.
Model HZ800. Everyone called it Hanzo.
Genji had simply stared at it when it had arrived, face twisted in blatant shock and anger. It looked like a weird mix of his parents, which had to be some kind of a sick joke. His mother, the person this android had to have been partially modeled from, had been killed by the same thing standing in front of him.
And then it had said the most ridiculous thing Genji had ever heard.
“Good evening, young master. I am Hanzo. I was designed to be your assistant and brother.”
Genji had almost hit it. He had wanted to send it to the junkyard for having the audacity to even think it could be a brother to him. He wanted to get his hands on whatever elder had thought this was a good idea, and make them regret everything. It was disgusting.
Genji had turned and gone straight to his room, seething. That android was making a mockery of what Genji had loved. It had his mother’s eyes. Hell, it had his eyes. It truly looked like it could have been his brother. Genji had never hated an android more.
-
Genji hadn’t shared a word with the android for a week. He had gotten reprimanded by the elders for not using it as it was intended, that it was there to help and advise him, not to be ignored. Genji had only half listened to their speech.
He had been forced to start using the android more, though, whenever he had to speak to it, it was mostly single word replies. He never initiated conversation, and never replied with more than he had to when the android tried talking with him. It asked questions, gave advice, helped with training, did everything it had been programmed to perfectly, except for getting along with Genji.
He was in his office, reading over a debriefing for an upcoming meeting. The android was standing obediently in the corner. It had been with Genji for weeks now, and still, Genji refused to acknowledge it’s name or presence when he didn’t have to.
It wasn’t human, it wasn’t right. If creatures like it had never existed, Genji would have still had his mother. He could never forgive androids for such a thing. His mother had been everything to him.
“Genji, I am sensing traces of anger and sorrow. Perhaps you would like my assistance with those documents while you take a break?”
Genji blinked, then turned a glare towards Hanzo.
“Do not scan me.”
“Forgive me. It is in my programming to make sure you are safe and stable.”
“Leave me alone.” Genji growled, looking back down at his work.
“Very well.” Hanzo murmured.
Genji almost thought he could detect traces of resentment in the response. He ignored it. Robots didn’t feel anything, much less human emotions. It would do as it was told without question. And it did. Hanzo was quiet for the rest of the evening, until Genji finished up and went to his room.
The android wasn’t allowed in his room. Genji had made that much clear the moment Hanzo had tried to follow him in for the first time. Genji sighed as he collapsed onto his futon, staring at the ceiling with his hands clasped behind his head.
He needed some time off, a night to himself to go out to a club or something. He needed to go somewhere that the android wouldn’t be allowed to follow. Maybe then, he’d get a bit of peace.
-
Hanzo had been with him for a few months, and not much had changed besides the android getting pushier and the elders stricter about its usage. Genji was training with it, doing a bit of sparring to let off some steam. Except, he was only getting angrier. Each of his attacks were blocked with calculated precision.
Inhuman precision.
Hanzo could fight in a way Genji would never be able to, because the android never made a fucking mistake or slip up. It wasn’t human, and it wasn’t fair to practice against.
Genji was sent to his ass again with a kick to his stomach. He hissed at the sharp pain it caused, sending a heated glare towards the android standing above him and offering a hand.
“Not all of us are made of fucking biocomponents that can be replaced on a whim. Be a little more careful next time.” He muttered darkly, Hanzo tilting its head.
“I will take that into consideration and lower my combat settings, if you wish.”
Genji slapped the hand away, standing and brushing himself off.
“This is useless. I’m not going to win against a robot that’s programmed for this.” Genji sighed, sneering the word ‘robot’.
“My programming is set to a level that is meant to enhance your own combat skills, Genji. Working against a more difficult opponent will make you a better fighter.”
“The only thing that enhances when I’m around you is my frustration. And shut up about your programming, I don’t give a shit about it. I don’t want you around, but does anyone care about what I want? No! They just want a perfect heir! I’m sick of having to put up with androids, all they do is cause issues for me...”
“If there is an issue I am creating, tell me so that I may work to resolve it—”
“Just shut up, okay?! You’re a piece of plastic that is programmed to be perfect, and yet you still manage to fuck that up! Do as you’re told, and leave me alone!”
“Taking out your anger and hatred for androids on me because of what happened to your mother is hardly the best solu—”
Genji whipped around and shoved Hanzo against the wall of the dojo, the LED on it’s temple turning yellow. He pressed his hand to where Hanzo’s core component was hidden beneath it’s shirt, digging his fingers in dangerously. The LED shifted to red.
“Say something like that again, and I will rip your core out and watch you shut down at my feet.” Genji murmured. Hanzo’s eyes were wide, flicking between his own, hands held out to it’s side placidly.
Genji wondered if it was afraid. He hoped so.
“I...Yes, Genji. Forgive me.” Hanzo replied after a moment, Genji shoving it back and moving away.
He picked up his training gear. Walked to the entrance of the dojo. Glanced back to see if Hanzo would follow him, or if he could make it to his room for some peace and quiet. Hanzo was glaring at him, the light on it’s temple yellow once again. The glare was replaced with indifference as quick as it had appeared.
Genji frowned, then left the dojo with an uneasy feeling in his gut. Androids weren’t supposed to get angry. Maybe Hanzo hadn’t, maybe it was just simulating what a human might be feeling in such a situation. Genji nodded to himself. Yes, that was it. It had to be.
Hanzo had never shown anything like that before. Not that he had seen, anyways. Genji worked his jaw. He’d have to keep a closer eye on Hanzo from now on.
~*~*~
Jesse scanned the area, running simulations of which route he needed to take. Too high of a jump that way. Too risky with that crumbling ledge. His LED turned yellow as his comm came to life, Commander Reyes’ voice coming through cleanly. Jesse listened, still running through simulations.
“Files successfully located. I’ll download them and send them to you in a minute. The code you’ll need to use will pop up, but you’ll have to get past the locks over it first. Some sort of firewall. Can you do it?”
Jesse calculated the best path, running to the ledge of the building and jumping. He rolled as he hit the next roof, then ran along a wall and pushed off of it when his momentum wouldn’t carry him further at that angle. His arm went up to catch a railing, and he swung himself to the balcony he needed to be on, crouching below the windows.
“That’s an affirmative, boss. I’ll hack the locks on it.”
“Alright, sending the files now.”
An orange box popped into Jesse’s peripheral, and he unlocked it, scanning through the files. The code file came up with a warning, Jesse bypassing it and closing his eyes to focus on getting past the protection around it.
72cP4$s#yY.
Jesse grinned, then moved to the control panel over the door. The skin on his hand retracted as he placed it on the panel, inputting the code. It blinked green.
“Bingo.” Jesse hummed in satisfaction, drawing his revolver as he slipped inside.
He ran down a hall and went behind a wall, pressing himself flat against it as a guard patrol went by. They were androids, faces blank as they went past. Jesse watched them a moment, then went in the opposite direction. His footsteps were silent and sure as he made it to the control room.
“‘Kay, I’m in. Goin’ to the terminal now.”
“Copy that.”
Jesse went down the rows of computers, stopping when he reached the one blinking with an orange light instead of the blue all the others were. He paused, hand hovering over the components. Closed his eyes again.
“Just received the package. Good work, McCree.”
“Thanks, Jefe.”
“Get on out of there, we’ve got a rendezvous ship headed your way. Coordinates will be on your tracking screen.”
“Got it.” Jesse nodded, seeing the waypoint further out in his vision, coordinates blinking above it.
He followed them, leaving the same way he had come in. The guard schedule was consistent; he still had two minutes and twenty-three seconds left. Jesse ran down a few flights of stairs, then paused, listening. He heard footsteps. Only a single pair of them. The android guards were always in sets of two, though.
Jesse flattened himself to the wall, LED shifting to yellow. The coordinates still blinked at him, the timer he had set for himself still counting down. One minute, twelve seconds. Eleven. Ten.
A human walked past him, hand resting on her holster, posture relaxed. Jesse waited. She continued down the hall. The LED went back to blue. Jesse stepped out of hiding, then started running again.
He made it to the courtyard, gun going back into it’s holster as he cleared a fence, keeping out of sight of the surveillance drones. Jesse rolled to his feet, turned a corner with a grin. A human was staring at him, wide eyed. Jesse’s grin slipped.
He tackled the man and slapped a hand over his mouth, knee digging into his wrist. He had been reaching for the pistol on his thigh. Jesse pulled out his revolver, pressing it to the man’s head, and he immediately stopped struggling.
“Easy now. Best not fuck up my mission right as it was about to end successfully.” Jesse murmured, finger tightening on the trigger minutely.
The man’s eyes widened, Jesse tilting his head slightly at the look he was being given. Pleading without words. Fear.
Blackwatch didn’t take prisoners.
His programming made sure he could make split second decisions that could save or end lives where he deemed necessary. He had perfect, logic-based machinery and algorithms that fired off to make sure he made the best decisions in any combat situation. This scenario led to the simplest conclusion. And yet...
Software instability detected.
-Kill the guard: 98% chance of mission success. (Scroll to kill ending, 1st one)
-Spare the guard: 40% chance of mission success. (Scroll down to spare ending, 2nd one)
----
Kill:
Jesse’s eyes narrowed, his finger tightening completely. A silenced shot went off, the man beneath him going limp. He should have been more careful, shouldn’t have hesitated. Jesse found it odd that he had even considered not following through on his orders, on the mission.
Hiding the body was an easy feat, and he made it to the rendezvous point without any further impairments. A ship was waiting for him, as promised. Jesse stepped aboard, hand going up to hold onto the stabilization bar as he reported back to the commander.
“On my way back, boss.”
“Good job, Jesse. This information will help us against Talon big time. We’ll have a debriefing when you arrive.”
“Copy that.”
-
Debriefing went smoothly, Jesse sending in a report in mere moments, and he made his way to the door.
“McCree, stay a minute.” Reyes called. Jesse paused, then turned and waited patiently. Programmed patience to follow orders. The thought made Jesse frown a moment, but it quickly disappeared as Reyes turned to him.
“I’m going to need some post-mission diagnostics from you, just so I can send it in to the med bay.”
“Oh, alright. You want me to just stop by there, or...?”
“No. Send them in, that’s all. You did a good job today.”
Jesse shifted, arms crossing over his chest.
“Thanks, Jefe. Just doin’ my job.”
“Still. You’re damn good at it. Keep up the good work.” Gabe told him with a good-natured pat to the shoulder.
Jesse felt the sudden urge to tell him about the casualty, then shook it off. He’d know after the diagnostics run anyways. The cowboy left without another word, brows furrowing a bit as he ran through what had happened that day.
----
Spare:
Jesse stared at the man, gun unwavering. Worked his jaw, tightening it. The look on the man’s face didn’t change, but his hands went up placidly.
“Please just...I won’t say anything, I swear...! Don’t kill me!” He whispered.
60% chance of mission success.
Something in Jesse’s programming popped up, something like a red wall blinking with orders.
Kill the man.
He frowned, eyes narrowing and head tilting slightly in disconcertment. In his mind’s eye, he shot the wall. Cracks appeared. Shot it again, and again and again. The man’s face, his words lingering just behind the wall, Jesse getting angry before it shattered like glass.
He blinked, then lowered his gun slowly. Watched as the man glanced around nervously before scrambling up and pointing.
“Go that way, just get out of here! I’ll stay quiet, I swear!”
The gunslinger didn’t say anything. He turned on his heel and continued to make his way to the rendezvous point. No alarms had been set off. Jesse got onto the evac ship wondering why the man hadn’t just lied and gone after him.
“On my way back, boss.”
“Good job, Jesse. This information will help us against Talon big time. We’ll have a debriefing when you arrive.”
“Copy that.”
Jesse spent the time it took to get back to base wondering about the bigger question: why did he not kill the guard in the first place?
-
Debriefing went by smoothly, though O’Deorain stared at him more than usual. He had shifted uncomfortably under her gaze, watching a small smirk appear on her lips. She did nothing, however, not until she was about to leave the room when Reyes signaled the debrief’s end.
Jesse almost made it to the door when O’Deorain’s hand clasped his shoulder, nails digging in just enough to cause the receptors there to light up in his vision.
“What?” He muttered, meeting the doctor’s eyes with a little glare.
They both knew he didn’t like her, but she was one of the few who knew how to fix and replace biocomponents at the base. Jesse had to put up with her.
“I need some diagnostics testing from you, if you don’t mind. Just run through them and send a report to me. I am very interested to see them.” O’Deorain told him quietly, her tone just loud enough to be shared between them.
Jesse stared at her a long moment. There was no way she could have known, and yet that look in her mismatched eyes told him otherwise. A slight frown pulled on the gunslinger’s lips, but he nodded. Playing it safe and simply agreeing.
“Alright.”
“Good. That will be all.”
Jesse pulled his arm free, shooting a glance to Gabe, who was further in the room still. The commander didn’t notice. O’Deorain raised her head and smiled coolly, Jesse turning on his heel and leaving.
He didn’t quite know the consequences of being deviant, but he did know that they probably weren’t good, especially if a deviant was programmed to be good at wielding various weapons.
The gunslinger’s brow furrowed as he went back to his quarters, debating actually sending a diagnostics check in.

Chase Koeneke’s Top 10 Handheld Games of 2018
2018 could’ve been a bummer of a year. The game I was most excited about – Fire Emblem: Three Houses got pushed to 2019. We were getting a new Pokemon game...but it was based on a mobile game and was fundamentally changing the formula I loved. And outside of Smash Bros., there was little left I was anticipating.
And yet, 2018 turned out to be a fantastic year in handheld gaming. I got a turn-based strategy game that’s up there with any Fire Emblem game I’ve ever played. That Pokemon game ended up being pretty great! And there were a bevy of unexpected indies that kept me entertained all year long. Here are my top 10 handheld games from 2018 (as well as a few honorable mentions).
Honorable Mentions: Mark of the Ninja Remastered, Gris, Kingdom Rush Vengeance, Donut County, West of Loathing
Tumblr media
10. Minit (Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC)
I like to take my time in games – fully exploring worlds, talking to NPCs, reading item descriptions. In that sense, Minit, a top-down Zelda-style game that only allows you to play in one-minute sessions should be my nightmare. But it’s not. In fact, I really liked it. Minit’s limitations freed me from my thinking and made me engage with the game on its level. In a world dominated by GPS and a games’ landscape dominated by easily accessible maps, there’s something refreshingly challenging having to commit the area to memory and make plans on not only what to do next, but how to make it there in time.
Tumblr media
9. Golf Peaks (iOS, PC)
I’m bad at real golf, but golf video games, especially the ones that don’t try to meticulously recreate the sport, are my jam. Mario Golf on the Game Boy Color is one of my favorite games ever. Golf Story was one of my favorite games last year. And Golf Peaks takes that crown in 2018. Golf Peaks expertly mixes golf, card and puzzle mechanics to make for a uniquely pleasing combination. New obstacles are layered in world by world and get increasingly bizarre, until what you’re playing is barely recognizable as golf. Golf Peaks feels meticulously crafted, and it makes for a difficult, but rewarding experience. Unfortunately, because it’s so bespoke, it’s a finite experience, and once you’ve completed it, there’s little reason to revisit it. A new world has been added since the game’s release, but after completing it in less than an hour, I’m back to waiting for more.
Tumblr media
8. Alto’s Odyssey (iOS, Android)
Alto’s Adventure was one of my favorite games of 2015, a gorgeous and fun take on the infinite runner genre. Alto’s Odyssey further refines the formula by adding in even more things to do. The silky-smooth jumps, grinds and backflips return, along with the sublime wingsuit power-up, but they are joined by Tony Hawk-style wall rides that add a new dimension to the game. With uniquely skilled characters to unlock and upgrades to literally and figuratively grind for, Odyssey will keep you busy for a long time. It’s one of those rare phone games that’s good for play sessions both long and short, and its action never gets old.
Tumblr media
7. Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition (iOS, Android, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC)
I was intrigued by Final Fantasy XV on the PS4, but ultimately bounced off its combat and general milling about. Pocket Edition fixes both of those issues and lets me enjoy what I really like about the game: its story and its characters. The miniaturized version of FFXV has turned it into a linear game with simplified controls (touch controls if you’re playing the phone version). The way it retains quite a bit of the themes and depth (and voice acting) of the original game despite streamlining it never ceased to impress me. And weirdly, playing Pocket Edition has actually reawakened my desire to play the original game. I want to see this treatment given to other Final Fantasy games.
Tumblr media
6. Florence (iOS, Android)
Florence is not a game I would traditionally play on a phone. It’s not an infinitely replayable, puzzling experience like Threes or Drop7 or even a Kingdom Rush. But it is an experience, and one I deeply appreciated. Florence made me feel more than any other game this year, and it did it in a game that takes only about a half hour. It tells a mundane, yet impactful story about relationships. It’s beautiful. It’s funny. It’s tragic. But most of all, it’s real, and it uses its touchscreen controls to great effect to make you feel like you are an active participant in the story. It’s somehow simultaneously abstract and extremely specific, and I think it’s something everyone should witness.
Tumblr media
5. Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee (Switch)
This is the Metal Gear Solid 2 of Pokemon. Let me explain. In MGS2, you play as Raiden, and you learn that you are being put through a similar adversity to the original MGS’ Shadow Moses Island in the hopes of turning you into another legendary hero like Solid Snake.
In Pokemon Let’s Go, things start familiar enough to anyone who’s played the first generation of Pokemon games (particularly, Yellow). You get a starter, you battle your rival, you face Brock and Misty and the other gym leaders and you stumble into and interrupt a nefarious Team Rocket plot. It’s all there. Except then you run into Blue, who is the real rival from the first generation of Pokemon. Which means your rival isn’t your rival. And you aren’t you. It’s fascinating and I ended up loving it.
Mechanically, it’s a weird mix of adding from more recent games while also stripping away complexity. Mega Evolutions are in. Held items are out. HMs are out. Steel, dark and fairy types are in. And there are some brand-new mechanics like catch combos that are a fun and new way to engage with Pokemon. It’s not all rainbows (I’m still not sold on the GO-style catching system,) but I hope the next mainline Pokemon game takes a little inspiration from these games. And I hope they remake Gold and Silver in this style too.
Tumblr media
4. Holedown (iOS/Android)
Holedown became my go-to phone game for most of 2018. While you can beat it in a manner of hours, the game is so addictively fun and replayable with its final, seemingly endless level that you’ll be happy to dive back in again and again to improve your score. Holedown is satisfying in every sense of the word. Endorphins rush when you see and hear massive streams of balls ping-ponging off walls. Hitting the perfect angle to keep the combo going higher and higher is intensely gratifying. It’s so easy to play and understand, and yet you’ll be learning new tricks after your hundredth attempt. Holedown rules. Play Holedown.
Tumblr media
3. Super Robot Wars X (Vita, PS4)
OK, this one’s a bit of a stretch. Super Robot Wars is not available in the US last I checked (though it is available in English.) Also, I did not play its handheld Vita version. Instead I played it on the PS4. So, on one hand, this game doesn’t really belong on this list. On the other hand, I love Super Robot Wars X so much, so it’s staying.
This was my first dip into the series and immediately found it to be an incredibly dense and confusing experience. It’s a turn-based strategy game like Fire Emblem, which sounds right up my alley, but the number of things to account for is staggering. To list all its mechanics would be a daunting exercise. Slowly, but surely, I learned to engage with more and more systems until finally, I felt like I could see the code, that I had entered the Matrix. I suddenly knew strategy game kung-fu. The game would set up almost impossible odds and, sometimes after an insane amount of consideration, I’d find a solution. I could boost the range on one weapon for the one turn I need it. Or maybe that shield I’ve never used would actually come in handy here. Oh wait, this pilot has a special skill I could utilize. The solutions are always there, you just have to look for them. It’s a beast of a game, but one I became utterly mesmerized with.
Tumblr media
2. Dead Cells (Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC)
I jealously watched early access PC players make run after run on Dead Cells. I heard people extol the game’s virtues on countless podcasts, and then, finally, the game released on Switch and I too could experience its splendor. And boy, did it deliver. Dead Cells bends over backwards to tailor the game experience to you. It allows you to choose what and when to unlock new skills, letting you further customize your arsenal as you play. It accounts for novice players who need to take their time getting through its sprawling levels while also providing options for crafty veterans who are able to speed through its content. And yet, as much as it caters, you’ll inevitably get to a point in your run where the game says “OK, now we’re going to test you.” I have failed that test every time. I have not beaten Dead Cells. But I am damn sure ready to try again.
Tumblr media
1. Into The Breach (Switch, PC)
Where Super Robot Wars X is a turn-based mech strategy game on a macro scale, with an inconceivable amount of systems and options to deal with for your double-digit army of robotic fighters, Into The Breach stuffs all the same intensity into a comparably tiny grid and only a trio of battlers. It maintains the perfect amount of complexity, making every unit, every weapon, every move and every choice matter. It’s the ultimate chess game. And just when you think you’ve wrapped your head around its mechanics, it hands you a new team of mechs that plays completely differently. Runs are short, but meaningful, and the optional challenges (that let you unlock more new teams) push you out of your comfort zone to learn new strategies. Not only is it my favorite game of the year by a country mile, it might be one of the best games of all time.

Tokusatsu Series with Anime Adaptations (Part 1)
There has been a trend recently of turning anime into live action films.  The most prominent of these is most likely the American Ghost in the Shell film though in Japan, the trend has been going on for quite some time. There have been adaptations of Space Battleship Yamato, Yatterman, Ruroni Kenshin and Kagaku Ninjatai Gatchaman plus there are upcoming versions of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and Fullmetal Alchemist.
Tumblr media
However, this adaptation idea goes both ways and sometimes, there are anime adaptation of live-action properties. Some of these stick very close to the original version while others veer of wildly from their tokusatsu originals.  Here are just a few of them.  This is by no means a comprehensive list, just a taste of what is out there.
Giant Robo
Tumblr media
Giant Robo is based on a manga by Mitsuteru Yokoyama and originally appeared in live-action form in 1967, produced by Toei.  It followed the adventures of the titular robot and his controller, a young boy named Daisaku Kusama as they help the secret organization Unicorn battle the interstellar terrorist organization Big Fire. The live action version was adapted for English and released as Johnny Socko and his Flying Robot.
In the early 1990s, it was decided that an anime adaption entitled Giant Robo: The Day the Earth Stood Still would not only be about the titular mechanoid but incorporate aspects of all of mangaka Yokoyama’s works.  This time Daisaku and Robo work with the Experts of Justice, a group of super powered heroes fighting once again against the evil of Big Fire and their inner circle of powered agents, the Magnificent Ten.
It’s a great anime, directed with style and substance by Yasuhiro Imagawa (who would later direct Mobile Fighter G Gundam) and has some very memorable characters (especially Experts of Justice agent Ginrei), a fantastic retro-futuristic settings as well as dynamic and exciting action sequences.  I highly recommend it to anyone, even those utterly unfamiliar with the live action version.
Android Kikaider
Tumblr media
Jinzo Ninger Kikaider (人造人間キカイダー) was a tokusatsu series created by Shotaro Ishinomori that started in 1972. It was accompanied by a manga from the legendary author being publish concurrently with the TV version in the pages of Weekly Shonen Sunday. The series follows the adventures of Jiro, an android created by the kind Dr, Konmyoji who opposes the evil organization DARK and its Master, Professor Gill.  Gill sends out evil androids each week with plans to conquer Japan and capture or kill Jiro. When things get tough, Jiro can transform into his stronger form, the android hero Kikaider!
In 2000, an anime version of the series, much more faithful to the manga than the live-action version was released. It was entirely Android Kikaider: The Animation and was followed by a 4 episode sequel entitled Android Kikaider 01: The Animation which was an anime version of the sequel to the tokusatsu series of the same name. This version was dubbed into English and aired on Cartoon Network as part of their Adult Swim programming block.
Of special note was a one shot OVA unreleased in the US entitled The boy with the Guitar: Kikaider vs Inazuman which created and anime crossover between Ishinomori’s live-action heroes Kikaider and Inazuman.
Tumblr media
Ultraman
Tumblr media
This one might be cheating a little but there is no way I could mention anime adaptations of Tokusatsu shows without talking about the anime versions of Tsuburaya’s classic Ultraman series. The thing is, the various anime versions are not straight adaptations but sequels, series that happen in the same universe or comedic spin-offs of the original.
For example, 1979′s The Ultraman (ザ☆ウルトラマン) is actually the 8th entry in the Ultraman franchise, following 1974′s Ultraman Leo. As such, it is set in the same universe as the other Ultra series but introduces a brand new hero, Ultraman Joneus (or Ultraman Jonias) who is also referred to as Ultraman Joe. Like Leo before him, Joneus does not hail from the Land of Light in Nebula M78 but from another planet, U40. He works in his human form of Choichiro Hikari with the Scientific Defense Guard to protect Earth from aliens and monsters.  The series was co-produced by Tsuburays Productions and the Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS). It was animated not by Tsuburaya themselves but by Nippon Sunrise, who would find fame as the animators of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise that started the same year.
It was released on video in the US as Ultraman II: The Further Adventures of Ultraman which included only a dub of the first four episodes.  The name were altered for the Americanized version and episodes 3 and 4 were swapped in order.
In 1987 there was another animated Ultraman, this time a co-production between Tsuburaya Productions and American animated studio Hanna-Barbera entitles Ultraman: The Adventure Begins or, in Japan, Ultraman USA.
Tumblr media
This series followed the adventures of three American stunt pilots who crash after a sudden, mysterious flash of light but emerge from the wreckage unscathed. They are later told they have become merged with a trio of heroes from the planet Altara in Nebula M78 and tasked with captured monsters who escaped from an offworld prison planet. The three, headquartered out of Mount Rushmore, call themselves collectively the Ultra Force and are made up of:
Ultraman Scott (Scott Masterson) Ultraman Chuck (Chuck Gavin) Ultrawoman Beth (Beth O'Brien)
Though the series was co-produced in the USA, these Ultra Heroes are an official part of the series’ canon, appearing in Live Action form twice; once in the Shinseiki Ultraman Densetsu featurette and most recently in 2009′s  Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend The Movie.
The film was released in the US by Ultra Action Video and L.A. Hero but has since gone out of print and is no longer available.  It has also never been re-released on any modern video format and so lingers in the realm of VHS only lost releases.
There have been other animated Ultraman productions and spin-offs including the cat version Ultranyan:
Tumblr media
As well as last year’s super deformed series focusing on girls who have inherited the souls of past Ultra Monsters: Kaiju Girls:
Tumblr media
This is only the first part of what may end up being a lengthy series about anime adaptations of tokusatsu.  Thank you to @tokugami for the idea!

New Post has been published on https://toldnews.com/world/the-wandering-earth-and-chinas-sci-fi-heritage/
The Wandering Earth and China's sci-fi heritage
Tumblr media
Image copyright Netflix
Image caption The Wandering Earth debuts on Netflix on 30 April
The Wandering Earth has been billed as a breakthrough for Chinese sci-fi.
The film tells the story of our planet, doomed by the expanding Sun, being moved across space to a safer place. The Chinese heroes have to save the mission – and humanity – when Earth gets caught in Jupiter’s gravitational pull.
Based on Hugo Award winner Liu Cixin’s short story of the same name, Wandering Earth has already grossed $600m (£464m) at the Chinese box office and was called China’s “giant leap into science fiction” by the Financial Times. It’s been bought by Netflix and will debut there on 30 April.
But while this may be the first time many in the West have heard of “kehuan” – Chinese science fiction – Chinese cinema has a long sci-fi history, which has given support to scientific endeavour, offered escapism from harsh times and inspired generations of film-goers.
So for Western audiences eager to plot the rise of the Chinese sci-fi movie, here are five films I think are worth renewed attention.
Dislocation
Huang Jianxin, 1986
For most in the Western world, their first encounter with Chinese cinema came from directors like Wu Tianming (The Old Well, The King of Masks) and Zhang Yimou (House of Flying Daggers, Raise the Red Lantern).
Image copyright NANHAI FILMS
Image caption Dislocation explores themes of work and artificial intelligence in a surreal dreamscape
They were largely preoccupied with themes like the loss of youth, tradition versus change, and creating the rural aesthetic most people associated with Chinese film.
But China in the 1980s was a scene of rapid modernisation, urbanisation and Westernisation, and films started responding to the impact of this massive change.
In Dislocation, a scientist creates an android version of himself to attend the endless meetings that rob him of his time, in a black comedy of mechanisation and bureaucracy.
Huang’s take on the debate on artificial intelligence is superbly delivered against a surreal Kafka-esque dreamscape, with stark lighting and suspenseful music, making this film a delight to watch.
Hopefully the new interest in kehuan will see it gain an official release in the West.
Warrior Revived
Li Guomin, 1995
A grown-up style of kehuan emerged in the 1990s, reflecting the themes of identity versus technological advancement which were also occupying Western sci-fi at the time.
Image copyright Shanghai Film Studios
Image caption The low budget appearance of Warrior Revived never gets in the way of its creative energy
In Warrior Revived, police officer Song Da Wei dies a gruesome death on duty and ends up in a decade-long coma. He’s brought back to life by a “miracle cure” from a biologist who has found a way to repair defective DNA.
The genetically enhanced Song finds himself uncomfortable with the cyberised world around him, and excluded by his old comrades. Meanwhile, the heavily maimed villain he gave his life to destroy is plotting to steal the gene formula and wreak his revenge.
Like a lot of great cyberpunk movies before the age of CGI, this early mainland kehuan impresses with its high kitsch, low-budget, imaginative approach.
The villain’s lair is filled with neon tubes, hand-crafted lab controls and walls covered with plastic bowls in the best traditions of the Tardis.
What it lacks in sleekness it more than makes up with innovative costume designs and soundtrack, diligent camera work and the sheer energy from the cast.
Wonder Boy
Song Chong, 1988
The 1980s brought a slew of Hollywood sci-fi films made for children, but which appealed equally to adults – like Explorers, Flight of The Navigator, and D.A.R.Y.L. – and filmmakers in China were taking a similar route.
Image copyright Children’s Film Studio
Image caption Wonder Boy remains popular and is still occasionally played out on national TV
Produced by the Children’s Film Studios and hailed as the nation’s first children’s fantasy film, Wonder Boy tells the story of a child born with the ability to generate electricity.
Bei Bei is bullied by neighbours and kept in isolation by parents who want to protect him, but is still a caring and mischievous little boy, who uses his powers to help others and have fun in equal measure.
When Bei Bei is taken away to be experimented on – by a non-governmental, possibly foreign group – a handful of the close friends he has made come to his rescue.
Well-loved for its humour and accessibility, Wonder Boy is remembered in China as a great classic, and still enjoyed by children today when it is repeated on both national television and streaming services.
Reset
Hong-Seung Yoon, 2017
Produced by Jackie Chan and winner of the 2017 Grand Remi for Best Feature and Best Actress, Reset is a time travel thriller, which addresses a Chinese preoccupation with personal roles in a culture that so totally promotes the good of society.
Xia Tian (Yang Mi) is a senior researcher of wormhole technology and a single mother. When her young son is kidnapped, she is forced to hand over her research, but when the villain murders her child anyway she is forced to test her own discoveries into time travel in order to save his life, and maybe undo her own betrayal of the programme.
Image copyright Beijing Yaoying Movie Distribution Co Ltd
Image caption Reset explores the identity struggle facing many modern Chinese women
The film is an exploration of the plight of a New Chinese Woman, who walks the line between the roles of highly skilled professional and loving mother. The psychological exploration is fantastic. With several versions of Xia being generated by her repeated time travel, the face-off between our heroine and these alternate selves, including a darker, damaged one, creates an amazing tension which is missing from so many Western takes on this classic trope.
A female-led space kehuan story that also deals with single parenthood couldn’t be more relevant in a society that is simultaneously beginning a golden space age, and struggling with attitudes to women’s emancipation.
Super Mechs
Cui Junjie, 2018
Wuxia, or kung fu fantasy, is so intrinsic to Chinese pop culture it was almost inevitable that its tropes would be incorporated into Chinese sci-fi.
Image copyright Seven Entertainment Pictures
Produced exclusively for IQiyi, China’s version of Netflix, Super Mechs is set in 2066 in a world where humanity has begun to experience genetic mutations which leave some people with X-Men style super powers.
Global criminal organisations are threatening the order of society and private entities are stepping up to uphold it by developing highly advanced mechanised power suits.
Hero Xiao Qi is an ordinary office clerk enlisted by the Dragon Clan, who reveal to him his latent mutant ice powers, before arming him with a robotic power suit and sending him on a mission. Little does Xiao Qi know that he will be greeted by another mech-suited warrior with fire-based powers who will fight him to a standstill.
The “warriors with opposite powers” trope is a staple of the wuxia genre, but the film falls deeper down the rabbit hole when this deadly opponent is revealed to be Xiao Qi’s long-lost brother.
Add in ancient warring clans, fast-paced action between the sleek computer-generated mechanical fighters and a cheeky sense of humour from our protagonist, and the high budget Huayi Brothers production appeals to fans of superhero, kung fu and toku/tecuo films alike.
The works of stalwart wuxia authors like Jin Yong are steadily being translated into English, so we will certainly see more from this sub-genre reach our screens.
Acknowledging the rich and varied Chinese science fiction tradition does not at all detract from the pride in the success of Wandering Earth.
With China’s growing middle class and increased youth spending power, Chinese filmmakers are increasingly catering for a booming domestic demand for entertainment, and no longer worry as much about making their films palatable for export.
But with more East-West co-productions in the pipeline, like the animated Next Gen which originated from a Chinese web comic, it is certainly a sensible decision for companies like Netflix to bring films from platforms like IQiyi, to an English speaking audience, and that is going to include kehuan.
Western audiences may not immediately “get” some of these films, or may feel that some elements do not flow to their expectations.
But Wandering Earth and the titles above are the product of China’s culture and worldview. And to some extent, it’s what makes them different that will pique interest, fascinate and entertain.

KISSING IT BETTER - (rwby) blake belladonna x reader
Tumblr media
r e q u e s t e d “A Blake belladonna X female reader who can control the grimm?”  |[1,532 words]|
Y/N = your name
Okay, so it’s basically taking place before and during Beacon’s fall, and there’s no White Fang in this. There’s just Grimm attacking.
◢ ◣◥ ◤ ◢ ◣◥ ◤ ◢ ◣◥ ◤
“You be sure to win one for Beacon, okay?” Ruby asked, turning towards Pyrrha. “It’s what Yang would want,” Weiss added as she nodded while Blake and you sadly smiled.
“I’ll… do my best,” Pyrrha replied. “I’ll be sure to watch tonight in case you’re picked!” Ruby affirmed.
“Sorry, but I think I’ve had enough fighting for one year,” Blake said. “Ditto,” Weiss said. “How about a drink, girls? I know the perfect place,” you demanded. Blake nodded in agreement as Weiss responded: “Sure.”
You all headed down the hallway. As you exited Beacon, Blake jumped on your back, hugging you close to her. It was something she didn’t do often in public, being a private person, but, considering the recent event with Yang, you understood that everyone was slightly shocked.
You arrived to the fairgrounds shortly after. You led both girls to a small hut in one of the isolated spot of the fairgrounds. It was a small cafe bar with a screen permitting the clients to watch the tournament’s fights. It probably wouldn’t have been easy to find if you didn’t know where to look for. You sat down in the seats as the barman nodded his head at you and Blake in acknowledgement. He served you your usual. Blake took a green tea while Weiss chose a black coffee.
“How do you know this place?” Weiss asked, looking around, dumbfound. “We found it during one of our dates, some days ago,” Blake informed. You nodded: “We were walking around the fairgrounds and we just accidentally passed by the path we just used. We found this cafe bar. Ends up that the owner is lesbian herself and mostly choose this isolated spot for the LGBT+ community to come relax if they ever need a drink or to be in a judgement-free environment.”
“They’re also pro-Faunus,” Blake added as she took of her bow, ears twitching in delight.
You giggle at one of Blake’s jokes when the screen of the television suddenly flashed red, catching your attention. Your eyes widened in horror as you saw the dismembered robotic corpse of Penny laying on the ground of the arena while Pyrrha, who had been her opponent, was holding her hand before her mouth in shock, looking terrified. The screen was red with a black queen chess piece hovering in the middle of it.
Blake and Weiss turned to the live feed, both gaping at the scene before their eyes.
“This is not a tragedy. This was not an accident. This is what happens when you hand over your trust, your safety, your children, to men who claim to be our guardians, but are, in reality, nothing more than men. Our Academies’ Headmasters wield more power than most armies, and one was audacious enough to control both,” Cinder’s voice resonated around the silent and scared arena, “They cling to this power in the name of peace, and yet, what do we have here? One nation’s attempt at a synthetic army, mercilessly torn apart by another’s star pupil. What need would Atlas have for a soldier disguised as an innocent little girl? I don’t think the Grimm can tell the difference.”
Blake glared at the screen while you scowled. Cinder continued: “And what, I ask you, is Ozpin teaching his students? First a dismemberment, now this? Huntsmen and Huntresses should carry themselves with honor and mercy, yet I have witnessed neither. Perhaps Ozpin felt as though defeating Atlas in the Tournament would help people forget his colossal failure to protect Vale when the Grimm invaded its streets. Or perhaps this was his message to the tyrannical dictator that had occupied and unsuspecting kingdom with armed forces. Honestly, I haven’t the slightest clue as to who is right and who is wrong. But I know the existence of peace is fragile, and the leaders of our kingdoms conduct their business with iron gloves. As someone who hails from Mistral, I can assure you the situation there is… equally undesirable. Our Kingdoms are on the brink of war, yet we, the citizens, are left in the dark. So I ask you: When the first shots are fired… who do you think you can trust?”
As Cinder finished her speech, the arena stayed silent. Suddenly, the feed ended and an alarm wailed throughout the Amity Coliseum. The screen flashed orange, ‘CAUTION’ was typed on it. “Alert. Incoming Grimm attack. Threat level: Nine. Please seek shelter in a calm and orderly manner,” was heard from an emergency announcer.
You met Blake’s horrified gaze, reflecting your own. You got out of your seat as people were starting to run away. “I don’t believe this,” Weiss whispered, looking around as Grimm invaded the fairgrounds.
Blake quickly took her Scroll out and called Yang. “Yang, are you okay?” the black-headed girl asked. “I’m fine, the blonde’s voice could be heard as she was obviously running, “Is Ruby with you? She’s not answering her Scroll.”
“No, she isn’t,” Blake replied, brows furrowed, and Yang froze in her tracks, worry painted across her face, “Yang, I’m sure she’s fine. She’s our leader. She can take care of herself.”
“This can’t be happening… Penny…” Weiss started. “I’m headed to the docks, near the courtyard, the Grimm are mostly around there,” Yang informed. That’s when growls could be heard from the other line.
“Yang!” Blake exclaimed in worry. “Ugh! Gotta go! Be careful!” Yang said as she hung up. You took a look at Blake, noticing that she was heavily frowning. “She’s gonna be alright,” you whispered to her as you gently squeezed her hand. She nodded. Weiss turned to both of you.
“What are we going to do?” the heiress asked. “We’re going to the docks, and we’re doing our job,” Blake declared. You agreed and all headed to Beacon’s docks.
As soon as you stepped foot in the courtyard of the school, you were surprised by the number of Grimm there. Some Atlesian Knights were fighting the invading creatures and you remarked that a group of students were defending Beacon. You immediately recognized Teams JNPR, SSSN, CFVY and some fighters from the tournament.
You started running towards the group of Huntsmen-in-training, who was a few yards away, when the Atlesian Knights turned red. Blake pushed you and Weiss to the ground as the androids started shooting at you. You got up, taking out your weapon and, with Blake’s and Weiss’ help, you took down the Knights.
You turned to both girls. “Go take care of the Atlesian androids. I’ll handle the Grimm,” you said. The girls nodded before running off to the closest Knights.
You heard a deep gargled growl from behind you. You turned with a smirk towards the small pack of Beowolves. Just as one of them, who seemed to be the leader, leaped towards you, you lifted your hand in its direction. The Grimm froze just before you. You frowned in concentration as the other members of the pack stopped growling.
You smirked as you realized that you Semblance had taken effect. You had discovered, in your early teens, that your Semblance consisted of controlling the creatures of Grimm. Surely, this amazing ability had its downside as well.
The more you used your powers, the more you would tire rapidly. You were slightly more vulnerable when using them as your energy would concentrate on controlling the Grimm. Another problem was that you couldn’t control any monsters you wanted. It was more difficult to control an old Grimm, than a youngling. You could control more of them if they were young as well.
It was still a pretty useful Semblance to have in case you were outnumbered. You made the Beowolves you currently were controlling attack the Grimm and Atlesian Knights. That’s when you spot an Alpha Beowolf heading your way. You let your hold over the Beowolves go to focus on taking control of the Alpha.
You muttered a short ‘come on’ under your breath as it resisted your psychic hold. Suddenly, you were hit by a giant robotic mass. You were sent flying to the ground, spinning uncontrollably. You grunted in pain as you hit the ground hard. You heard someone cry your name.
“You have got to be kidding me!” you heard another yell out. You tried to look towards the voices, only to be hit by a wave of dizziness. A hand gently landed on your shoulder. You blinked, finally recognizing Blake. “Y/N, are you okay?” she asked worryingly, looking you over.
You simply nodded, slowly getting up. You looked back at where you had stood earlier to see Weiss fighting an advanced Paladin. “We have to help Weiss,” you said as you gripped your weapon.
You were about to ran off when the Paladin suddenly froze, before deactivating and falling to the ground. “Or we can do this too…” you commented. Blake chuckled lightly: “I’m glad you’re alright.”
“Well, now that I’m thinking about it, I’m kinda hurting there,” you smirked as you pointed to your lips, “Maybe you could kiss it better.”
“Hm, I don’t know, can I?” Blake wondered. You pouted and the girl laughed before planting her lips on yours. You separated, smiling as your foreheads rest against each other.

Title Luminous Avenger iX Developer Inti Creates Publisher Inti Creates Release Date September 26th, 2019 Genre Action platformer Platform PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One Age Rating T for Teen – Blood, Fantasy Violence, Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Tobacco Official Website
I’ve been a fanboy on the Gunvolt bandwagon long before Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX. Not only did I play the first two games, but I also reviewed them both on the site. So in case there was any concern about my credibility talking about the series, let’s put that to rest. The initial question I had when I heard about Luminous Avenger iX was how far after the second game it took place. As I played, other significant questions came up, though there’s not much I can discuss for fear of spoilers. That said, I will do my best to touch upon those issues for other fans, as well as tackling the gameplay itself. While I’m still a fan of the Gunvolt series after Luminous Avenger iX, there’s also a few bumps in the road I need to address.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
As I stated above, it’s unclear how long after Gunvolt 2’s events that Luminous Avenger iX takes place, but things have definitely taken on new urgency. Now, Adepts are completely in power, and go so far as to hunt down and execute un-powered humans, referred to as Minos. Whereas I used to think of the Azure Striker Gunvolt series as a nod to Mega Man, now I can’t help but notice the similarity to the X-Men. In a way it’s a reverse of that comic series, a world where the super powered rule over the weak with cruelty. At the head of this dynamic is the Sumeragi Institute for the Promotion of Human Evolution, which is a group that should sound familiar to fans of the games. It’s not clear how this came to be, nor where Gunvolt himself is, but Copen’s not about to sit back and watch this atrocity continue. While his primary goal is to find the source of something called the Butterfly Effect, he also elects to protect a group of young street urchin Minos. Despite his often caustic and emotionless exterior, I found this was consistent with his personality. After all, he himself is technically a Mino, and his hatred has always been against Adepts. The key difference between him and your average Mino is his technical genius, which let him build Lola to copy and utilize Septima powers through mechanical means.

Much like Inti did with previous series such as Mega Man Zero, each installment of the Gunvolt games has become slightly less hardcore and more welcoming to players of various experience levels. That is true in Luminous Avenger iX. An example of this is that the game has gotten rid of individual achievements. You still get graded after each level, so worry not if you’re a hardcore completionist. It’s just now you don’t have to worry about satisfying other arbitrary requests. Much like the last game, I found it somewhat easier to get a good score than in the original Gunvolt game, but not so easy I ever felt I wasn’t working for it. I got plenty of B’s, a few A’s and even one shining S+. The reason it’s still a challenge is that the gameplay is pretty similar to the most recent game, meaning that the bosses are still quite challenging.

In case you need a refresher course, the game keeps the trend of tagging and then blasting foes. For Copen, you tag foes by literally dashing into them. You have a small window of invincibility when you connect, so you’re encouraged to be aggressive, but don’t be so aggressive you accidentally wander into enemy fire. When you tag a foe, it uses up a Bullit, of which you have 3. Once you’re out of Bullits, your Prevasion turns off, meaning you can take damage again. So combat is a tight balance of dashing into foes, hitting them with homing rounds, avoiding getting hit and rinsing and repeating. One nice new change is if you reload your Bullits in mid-air, you’ll charge down to the ground with a crash capable of breaking objects. Though you’ll have to be careful using it, since if you don’t land on solid ground, it’s game over.

I’ve said previously how much I enjoy playing as Copen, and that’s still true. He’s fast, furious and frankly brutal. Coupled with Lola’s Septima EX weapons, he’s a veritable Swiss Army Knife of mayhem. Even then, playing him requires great reflexes and better strategy, especially against the bosses. One thing that’s changed from previous games is Copen can’t use credits to buy new active combat abilities. There is a Customize screen, where you can buy things like additional Bullits. You can also buy passive modifiers, such as Regenerator, which restores Copen’s health when he uses his SP Skill, or OD Guard Up, which halves damage when in Overdrive mode. If I sound a bit uncertain about these, it’s cause I didn’t purchase any of them during my playthrough. I like playing a game in as pure a form as possible, and for me that meant learning to master Copen without any extra helping hand. That said, if you’re the sort that likes to tinker, there’s a multitude of options for you to try out. If you’re feeling brave, you can also try out Lola’s new Darkness Trigger, which puts her in berserk mode, attacking with random EX skills until her meter depletes.

While the combat is most definitely one of the biggest draws in Luminous Avenger iX, it would be meaningless without exhilarating boss fights. This game assuredly carries on that tradition, as it does the pattern of having 7 main Adept bosses you confront. While I normally don’t cover these in detail, I feel I should touch upon all seven Falcons real quick. First let’s talk about Rebellio. He’s on death row for crimes he committed, and Sumeragi decides to offer him a deal – kill Copen and live. His Septima is Energy Wool, which lets him create crimson constructs out of thin air, such as mace balls, gatling guns and more. As for his appearance, he looks like nothing so much as a very angry Ram. Then there’s Crimm, a psychopath who loves explosions and considers himself an artist. His Detonation Septima lets him rain pure destruction wherever he desires, gesturing with crustacean limbs while protected by a circular shield. Then there’s Stella. She may look like a floozy and talk like a sailor, but she’s actually the president of an electronics manufacturer. Her Septima is Gravity, which not only gives her the power to alter your movement, but to also manifest dangerous buzzsaws and energy beams. Of all the Adepts in this game, her transformation is the most mechanical, making her look like a living blade.
More Falcons on Page 2 ->

If you think Stella’s a hard case, then you should see her android manservant, Dystnine. He’s the only robot capable of using Septima, other than Lola, and his is particularly strange. His transformation makes him look like a mix between a unicorn and a bullfighter, and his Vectored Cloth Septima allows for some very interesting tricks, such as blocking attacks and tangling you up. Beyond just being a skilled fighter, he’s also completely loyal to Stella, to almost a romantic degree. Or take one of my personal favorites, Isola, who is essentially an evil Idol. Think Hatsune Miku but pink and insane, and you’re on the right track. Her Septima is Companion, and while you might not think she’s that dangerous, you’d better watch out before Isola shatters you with bright pink lights and holograms. If you feel like a tough guy, you can try on Bakto for size. He’s essentially a Yakuza boss, and his Spiral Septima turns him into a fierce, blue lion man. Lastly, there’s Blade. Blade is incredibly powerful, and doubly so when outraged and in berserk mode. Unlike the other Falcons, Blade seems to not be entirely in control of their actions. But don’t let that lower your defenses, since you’ll need all your skills to beat this recurring boss character.

Frankly, I really enjoyed all the Falcons in the game, and felt they added a lot of personality and depth to the story. Especially since they reveal how diabolical Sumeragi has become. Most of the Falcons are only working for Sumeragi cause they’re forced to. Hell, Rebellio is on death row unless he can finish the job. Despite being in power, this shows how out of control and desperate they have become, a fact which becomes painfully apparent very late in the game. I can’t say why, but once you find out the truth behind the Butterfly Effect, you’ll hate Sumeragi with a burning passion. And by the very end of the game, you’ll question a good many things about the Gunvolt universe.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
As much as I loved the Falcons, I’m not sure I can say the same for all the Minos. They’re all adorable, especially self proclaimed pixie leader, Kohaku, but they just don’t feel that relevant in the game. Sure, Kohaku and her history serves a purpose, but the rest of them kind of feel like kawaii Charles Dickens knockoffs. Maybe if they got a bit more development I wouldn’t feel that way, but frankly I feel this is a pattern in the Gunvolt series. We get introduced to a new band of side characters each time, and very few of them actually matter. Which is a shame, since there’s so much I otherwise enjoy about the games.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Visually, I can easily say Luminous Avenger iX is the most beautiful game in the series. Everything is bold, colorful and full of detail. Though I would never call the original 3DS graphics ugly, everything is so much better on Switch. Even the menus are attractive, and I really like the portrait art as well. As for the sound design, it’s also fantastic. The music is dynamic and draws you in, and the sound effects pop with personality. One of my favorite changes here is that now dialogue happens at set points in the level, and NEVER during combat. This is such a great improvement, and shows Inti Creates listens to fan feedback. It doesn’t hurt that all the voice actors in this game are tremendously talented. If we were grading this game just on the artistry, it would easily get a perfect score.
I know typos happen, but they still take me out of the experience…
Sadly, there are a few areas I feel Luminous Avenger iX falls short. Firstly, it really bothers me that I’m not sure if this game has different endings, as is tradition. While I can’t go into reasons why this bothers me, suffice it to say that some of the late game revelations really have me scratching my head. I would almost go so far as to suspect this game takes place in an alternate universe, it’s that big. But without knowing that for sure, it’s hard to ascertain how much I enjoyed the story at large. Another area that my lack of clarity irritated me was with the Bonus Medals. There’s 4 in each stage, and I’d love to tell you what they do, but I have no idea. While it’s true I did apparently unlock some Special Missions at some point in the game, I’m pretty sure that had nothing to do with the Medals. A more substantial gripe I have is with the translation. I usually don’t point out this sort of thing in the games I’m fond of, but it’s unavoidable here. Not only do some characters have very awkward grammatical flubs, there’s also some weird Westernization that occurs. I mentioned Bakto early, and how he’s essentially a Yakuza boss. I said “essentially” since in the game, he’s called a Mafia boss. Problem is, everything about him screams Yakuza, from his name to his demeanor. This wouldn’t bother me, except for the fact Inti Creates usually waves their Japan flag pretty high and proud. It just struck me as awkward to change that sort of thing, especially since fans of the series can tell what’s up. Lastly, a recurring issue I have is with the leveling system. It still feels too passive and unnecessary to me. It’d be one thing if leveling up did more than increase your base health, such as opening up modifiers you can equip or something. As it is, I just don’t feel that’s necessary at all for a game this fast paced and frenetic.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
I did truly enjoy Luminous Avenger iX, but I can’t help but feel it wasn’t consistently awesome in every regard. The plot left more questions than it answered, and while the combat was definitely a lot of fun, I wanted more of it. Perhaps that’s because the last game had two protagonists instead of just one, but regardless there should have been something more to keep me playing. I managed to beat the entire game in a little over 3 hours, though I spent another 2 and change to try and find a secret ending. While I didn’t succeed in unlocking any new endings, there is still a bit of replay value. Those who like to tinker can unlock a lot of customization options, and truly hardcore fans can try and get an S+ for each stage. There’s also the aforementioned Special Missions, which are basically remixed forms of stages with harder boss fights. For $14.99, you still get an amazing game with Luminous Avenger iX. I just hope that the next adventure does more to explain the setting of this title, as well as to expand on the areas the series already excels.

The Best Free Games on Android
Some of the greatest games ever have been freeware. The openness of the Android system has led to many, many freeware games making it onto the Play store. In this article, we look at the cream of the crop, only a handful of which you can find for free on Apple devices. None of these games have ads or IAP beyond donations, nor are they demos. They are full, free and unlimited.
Are you an iOS user? Don't worry, we've got you covered as well! These are games that have been created by beautiful, dedicated teams of people for the love of the craft. They are free, really free -- free as in America, not free as in beer. No ads. No gold, diamonds, coins, elixir, timers, or hats. They are what was once called "freeware", and we're here today to share some of them with you...
Ananias (Google Play)
Ananias is another mobile-focused but otherwise traditional roguelike. It's easily playable on a phone with traditional turn-based gameplay and nice-looking pixel graphics. What it adds is an online mode that lets you co-op play with your friends, or just track their solo progress through the dungeon. A newer paid edition has more classes, but the original is definitely a complete game by itself.
Arcane Sorcery (Google Play)
You know you want Master of Magic on your phone. Arcane Sorcery is a fantasy-themed 4X strategy game that is deeply devoted to the early 90s classics. That's sometimes to its detriment, but it should ring some nostalgia bells for many gamers. Arcane Sorcery is not the deepest experience out there, but for a freeware mobile title, you'll get your money's worth. Best played on a tablet, unless you like squinting.
Hidden Dimensions 3 (Google Play)
Hidden Dimensions is a hidden gem of a digital collectible card game. Where hits like Hearthstone want your whole paycheck to keep competitive, Hidden Dimensions gives you several hundred cards that you can collect just by playing. Here, instead of magical wizard duels, you're commanding a starship and adding fighters and space stations to your fleet. Having reached its third iteration, Hidden Dimensions has been under development for a long time and the refinement shows.
To Arms! (Google Play)
There are dozens of deck-building dungeon crawlers on mobile right now, but not many of them will cost you absolutely nothing. To Arms! keeps things minimal so you can play it vertically on a small phone with few problems. Its graphics are nothing to write home about, with simple pixel art and little to no animation, but the gameplay is quite solid.
Influence (Google Play)
This recent title is an abstract Risk-like strategy game with randomly-generated hex maps. It has pass-and-play multiplayer with online play in beta. How many other games can you play online with one hand? Ads are present, but only as voluntary support for the developers, like a tip.
Alite (Google Play)
Alite is a port of the classic space sim Elite from the 80's. It lets you fly around the galaxy trading, upgrading your ship, and blasting pirates with heat-seeking missiles and surprisingly decent mobile controls. Alite is worth playing for the pure freedom it gives you to pursue your own space opera dreams.
Void Pyramid (Google Play)
Void Pyramid looks and feels like that time you stayed home from school with a fever and played NES all day while coked out on cough syrup. It's an old-school console-style RPG and set in a bizarre alien world with an Egyptian theme rendered in lurid hues. Having been banished to the Void Pyramid, can you escape to defeat the Prime Pharoah? You can find a variety of solutions to problems depending on your character's class or skills: if one path is blocked by something too heavy for your stringbean to move, you can bet there's another way in for the luckier or more agile. The developer's other game Ramble Planet has a similar aesthetic and is also freeware.
Seedship (Google Play)
The toughest choices are also some of the best choices, in terms of the rush you get when you gamble and it pays off. Seedship, a one man band project by John Ayliff, is full of tough decisions. You are an AI in control of a colony ship that's fled earth. You're carrying colonists in cryosleep, as well as all of the material, knowledge etc... you need to start a new world. But navigating interstellar space is dangerous, and the laws of decay are absolute - you must find a suitable world to set up shop before it's too late.
The best thing about Seedship is how it plays on your subjective opinion around the word 'suitable'. Every planet has a range of variables to consider, from the amount of water, to the quality of the atmosphere, to the availability of resources for expansion. You have a limited amount of surface probes with which to find this information out, although the longer your journey the easier it is find planet with a minimum standard in specific criteria. The problem is, with time comes danger - with each passing step, something will go wrong. You start off at peak condition (with all values at 100), as you travel you lose things. Knowledge, colonists, landing capabilities... your final score is a combination of what you had left to start the colony, plus the quality of the new world you chose to call home.
Pixel Dungeon (Google Play)
The easiest freeware game to recommend (of any kind) is the great Pixel Dungeon. This is a full-featured roguelike made to be controlled on mobile - in one handed portrait mode, no less! It's got classes, bottomless pits, status effects, secrets, randomly named potions that will set you on fire when you drink them, the whole kaboodle. The graphics are chunky pixels, but they are clear an communicative. The controls are simple, but the gameplay is anything but. You'll need to balance caution and daring to make it even a few floors in to this dungeon. The desktop version of this great game is paid, but the Android version is donation only!
Roguelike Honorable Mentions:
For a more mind-bending roguelike experience, try HyperRogue, which is set in non-Euclidean space on a hyperbolic plane. Among the granddaddies of roguelikes, only Nethack has a really good mobile implementation.
Battleheart (Google Play)
Android users are lucky enough to have the excellent tactical RPG Battleheart gone truly FTP. Battleheart was one of the earliest big hits on mobile, spawning a couple of likewise well-received sequels. It achieves this success by boiling down classic RPG gameplay into a system perfectly suited for mobile play. It's entirely battle-focused with very little story, but what battles they are. You'll lead a four-person team of varying classes, strengths and abilities against a wide variety of monsters with World of Warcraft-style tank-heal-damage strategy. It's like an MMORPG but instead of forty friends you just need four fingers. You can swap out different class types and experiment with sets of complimentary abilities. It all looks and controls beautifully, smoothly animated with simple line-drawing controls that were born for mobile.
Warfare Incorporated (Google Play)
If you have a craving for Starcraft or Command & Conquer, but no Tiberium in the bank, you are in luck. On Android, Warfare Incorporated has successfully brought classic RTS gameplay to tiny touch screens in the form of a game that goes back to PalmOS of 2003. In this game, you command the forces of a far-future megacorp in its efforts to strip-mine an alien planet (keep in mind, this was developed before we all learned the valuable lessons of James Cameron's Avatar).
War Inc. especially does a great job of adapting RTS commands to mobile controls. The interface gets out of your way, and simple intuitive taps order your troops around. Its graphics will either tap your nostalgia bone or make you scream at their messy pixels, but nonetheless do a good job communicating the state of the battlefield. There's a great and extremely well-balanced campaign mode plus hundreds of user-created missions. Multiplayer also works well.
Mindustry (Google Play)
Mindustry has an unusual spin on tower defense that makes it quite a bit more complicated than your typical time-waster. It will remind you immediately of Factorio, especially as your chains of production sprawl all over the map. It's played from a standard endless/survival formula that will drop you back at the beginning if you lose your base. To the basic TD formula, Mindustry adds conveyor belts that your towers need to keep running and supply chains that you need to keep building more towers. Running these systems efficiently is far more interesting and challenging than merely funneling creeps down corridors and wearing them away by attrition. The game includes a dozen maps and can be expanded with user-made downloads.
Mekorama (Google Play)
For puzzle fans, Mekorama [also on iOS] is a cute navigation puzzler in the vein of Monument Valley, but not quite so mind-twisting. You guide a cute robot around 3D mazes, dragging elements of the geography to make paths. There's no Escher-esque visual trickery, but that doesn't mean the puzzles aren't challenging! IAP are for donations only, and you can make and share your own levels through QR codes! The design is clean and the animation of the robot is utterly adorable. This is one of the very few freeware games available on iOS thanks to Apple's expensive developer hurdles, so be sure to give it a try and be doubly sure to drop a donation in the collection plate if you like it.
Open Panzer (Google Play)
Open Panzer [also on iOS] is an easy recommend for wargamers. This is a traditional hex-based historical strategy game that has you commanding World War II troops at the battalion level through mission-based scenarios. It builds on the venerable Panzer General II -- one of the most classic wargames ever -- and has great mobile controls. Just be sure to play the tutorial first. You'll be commanding and upgrading thousands of different units through three lengthy campaigns of 72 different "semi-accurate" scenarios. It's a hardcore game, but if you've been interested in dipping your toe into wargaming, you could do worse.
Freeciv (Google Play)
Yes, Civilization VI just came out on iOS Universal, but why play that mere demo when you could have an entire clone of the original classic for the price of exactly zero dollars? Freeciv is an open-source game originally on PC that is most similar to the classic Civilization II. If you've been living under a rock for thirty years, Civilization tasks you with guiding a civilization through six thousand years of gameplay, from the wheel to nuclear fission. Freeciv is well-implemented on Android, with new touch controls that are WYSIWYG but functional. The AI will provide a challenge, and there are tons of scenarios to undertake as well.
OpenTTD (Google Play)
This is a remake of Transport Tycoon, a business simulation game where you build transportation infrastructure. Okay, that sounds boring you think but then you've looked up and you've not just missed your bus stop, you're sitting in the bus mall and the driver is yelling at you to get the hell out. You'll make your fortune shipping products around the globe through a hundred years of gameplay, from steam engines to maglevs. The Android version is well-done, but doesn't provide a lot of guidance, so you may want to start on a desktop and them let your capitalist hunger take you to the mobile screen -- so long as it is one large enough for the tiny buttons and text.
Hall of Fame
Underhand
Birth of the Empires
The Battle for Wesnoth
There are so many great open-source and freeware games around these days I must have missed some great ones, so let us all know in the comments what else is out there. Just remember the rules: no demos, no ads, and no in-app purchases except for donations!
